Public Site: Searching for Content

To effectively search for specific policies, forms, or guidelines on your district's public site, follow these step-by-step instructions:

1. Select a Manual: From the public site's main landing page, click on the specific book or manual you want to search.

Note: Search queries can only pull results from one manual at a time, so you must select a specific book (like the Policy Manual) before searching.

2. Enter Your Search Terms: Locate the search box at the top of the page and type in your desired terms.

3. Use Search Syntax to Refine: Results You can customize your search to look for broad keywords or highly specific phrases using the following methods:

  • Basic Keyword Search (The "AND" Operator): If you type multiple words separated by a space (e.g., Students Board), the space acts as an "and" operator. The system will retrieve policies that contain both words anywhere within the document, even if they are not located right next to each other.

  • Exact Phrase Search: To search for a specific, multi-word phrase, enclose the words in quotation marks (e.g., "Board Meeting", "compliance officer", or "provisions of the law"). This guarantees the system will only return documents containing that exact combination of words in that specific order.

4. Review Results and Highlights

  • Click on any of the resulting policies to open the document.
  • Once the policy is open, your search terms will be automatically highlighted in blue throughout the text, allowing you to quickly spot the relevant information.
  • If you prefer to read the document without the coloring, you can use the on-screen option to clear the highlights and view the clean text.
